Health Benefits

There is a significant difference between Herbal Beauty bar soap and most of the soap purchased in the store.  First is the glycerin.  Glycerin  is a humectant which means that it draws moisture.  This is good for your skin because it is a natural moisturizer and it is a natural byproduct of the soap making process.  Most of the larger soap brands that you find in stores extract the glycerin and sell it to lotion producers.  This makes for a harder bar that is easier to keep dry, but also a bar that has lost one of the most beneficial qualities of soap.

The second difference is our essential oils.   If you look on the ingredients list on the back of most soap bars in the store,  the last thing you will see is the word “fragrance.”  This can refer to over 100 different synthetic ingredients.  Synthetic fragrances cause reactions in many people ranging from skin conditions to headaches.  We use essential oils exclusively (which are extracted from plants) and they not only have therapeutic properties, but they smell better too.  There’s a big difference between smelling the real thing and smelling a synthetic version.

The third difference is that we use only natural vegetable oils rather than petroleum and silicone based oils.  The reason petroleum and silicone bases are often used is because they coat the skin which makes the scent stay on the surface and remain prominent rather than being absorbed by the skin.  The problem with this is that they create a layer that prevents the skin from breathing and clogs pores.  We use only vegetable oils which carry vitamins and have moisturizing properties.
